Da Huoai Farmers Worried About The Massive Fall Of Durian Flowers Due To Off-Season Rains

Recent off-season rains have caused great anxiety for durian growers in Da Huoai district. 🌧️

According to records, each durian crop usually has 3 flowering and fruiting periods. Currently, durian gardens are in the second flowering period - the most important period of the 2025 crop, accounting for more than 50% of the yield, but the rain stimulates the growth of the tree tops, leading to a situation where the flowers are disjointed and fall off in large numbers.

Mr. Phan Quang Thuc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Lam Commune, said: "Through understanding, unseasonal rain has seriously affected the process of durian trees flowering and fruiting. According to preliminary statistics, in the second fruiting period of the 2025 crop, about 50% of the durian area in the commune has had their joints loosened and flowers dropped. Although there is still one more period, people in durian gardens with flowers falling off have no choice to nourish the fruit, affecting productivity, making people very worried."

Currently, the locality is coordinating with the agricultural sector of Da Huoai district to guide people on measures to restrain the top to ensure that durian trees have enough nutrients to nourish the fruit in the upcoming third flowering period. 🌱

Hopefully the rain will ease soon and this year's durian crop will be saved!
