Pyraclostrobin is a fungicidal active ingredient belonging to the Strobilurin group (FRAC Code 11). It is widely used in modern agriculture thanks to its high efficacy, broad disease spectrum, and long-lasting protective activity.
MODE OF ACTION
Pyraclostrobin inhibits fungal respiration by blocking electron transport in the mitochondrial respiratory chain, preventing energy (ATP) production and rapidly suppressing fungal growth. The active ingredient acts primarily as a preventive fungicide, with limited early curative activity.
KEY ADVANTAGES
• Broad-spectrum control of major diseases such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, rusts, and anthracnose
• Rapid action with extended residual protection
• Enhances leaf greenness and photosynthetic efficiency, contributing to yield improvement
• Suitable for a wide range of crops: rice, vegetables, fruit trees, and industrial crops
LIMITATIONS AND USE CONSIDERATIONS
• Risk of resistance development if used repeatedly as a solo active ingredient
• Recommended to rotate or tank-mix with fungicides from different mode-of-action groups (e.g. triazoles, SDHIs)
• Best performance is achieved when applied early, at the preventive stage
PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS
Pyraclostrobin is commonly applied as a foliar spray in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, especially suitable for intensive cultivation systems, high-quality production, and export-oriented agriculture.
CONCLUSION
Pyraclostrobin is a modern, high-performance fungicide that delivers reliable disease control and production sustainability when used with proper resistance management strategies.
