The Active Ingredient Bifenthrin: Effective Solution For Pest Control

Bifenthrin is a synthetic pyrethroid, developed based on research on natural pyrethrin compounds derived from chrysanthemums. With high stability and a wide spectrum of action, Bifenthrin brings outstanding pest control efficiency.

* Origin and characteristics:

• Developed by FMC Corporation (USA) in the 1970s and considered one of the first generation of synthetic pyrethroids. The active ingredient was patented and officially commercialized in the early 1980s.

• The active ingredient is a pale white to light brown solid.

• Soluble in organic solvents such as methylene chloride, chloroform, acetone, ether, toluene.

* Mechanism of action: Bifenthrin disturbs the function of the insect nervous system by acting on the sodium ion channel in the nerve cell membrane. Then, it paralyzes and kills insects.

* Spectrum of action:

• Effective against many types of insects, including ants, mosquitoes, fleas, cockroaches, insects and agricultural pests.

* Advantages:

• Good adhesion, durable in the environment.

• Very long half-life in soil, effectively kills insects in soil.

• Effective in killing a variety of pests on many types of crops.

* Note:

•  Toxic to fish and aquatic animals, avoid using near water sources.

• At low exposure levels, it is less harmful to humans. However, direct contact with high concentrations may cause skin and eye irritation or temporary neurological symptoms.

* Applications:

• Control of agricultural pests: silkworms, stem borers, leaf rollers, brown planthoppers, mealybugs, thrips, red spider mites, leafminers, and other pests on a wide range of crops, from food crops, industrial crops to fruit trees.

• Control of insects in public health: mosquitoes, flies, ants and disease-carrying insects.
