Gardeners in the Southwestern of Vietnam are excited because of the increase of pineapple price

For many months, the price of pineapples in Dong Thap Muoi area, Tan Phuoc district, Tien Giang province has always remained high from 8,500 - 9,500 VND/kg, making farmers here very excited after a long period of catastrophic price decline. At this price, farmers get a decent income.

Specifically, Mr. Le Van Minh in Tan Hoa Dong commune, Tan Phuoc district said: "Recently, I sold pineapples at the first-class price of 9,500 VND/kg. And pineapple types 2 and 3 cost from 8,500 - 9,000 VND/kg, with a total output of nearly 30 tons. This price has been stable for the past 5-6 months. If this price continues to remain stable, each hectare of pineapples I harvest until the new crop is planted can earn a profit of 200 million VND/ha."

And Mr. Nguyen Van Loi (Tan Hoa Dong commune, Tan Phuoc district) shared that currently the price of pineapples has increased. For example, pineapple type 1 is 10,000 VND/kg, pineapple type 2 ranges from 8,500 - 9,500 VND/kg. With current prices, he earns 20-25 million VND/ha.

Tien Giang is currently the locality with the largest concentrated pineapple growing area in the Mekong Delta with more than 15,000 hectares, mainly located in Tan Phuoc, with an output of nearly 200,000 tons/year.

Thanks to applying production according to VietGAP process, in recent years, pineapple growers in Tien Giang have continuously earned high profits.

On May 22, talking to Tuoi Tre Online, Mr. Huynh Van Buong - head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tan Phuoc district, Tien Giang province - said the district has a total of more than 15,393 hectares of pineapples, with a total output of 200,000 tons/year. Currently, only about 50% has been harvested. However, ưith the current increase in pineapple prices, on average each farmer is able to earn 100-120 million VND/year.
